Spring has sprung!

Coming out of a crazy year in 2020, (I wonder why?…) And greeting the thought of 2021 meant that I really needed to focus on the emergence of SPRING!

So above is some of the digital concept art (c) S.0.S For an Estate Agent in Brighton called EWE Move, so moving ewes, were some of the concepts which made my art designs here quite amusing and endearing. This project is on hold due to permissions being granted and basically, the issue is corporate over arty. The landlord and the chain are wanting more corporate images whilst the tenant would like something more fitting and fun for local arts trails. We will see what transpires, all quite annoying as a whole heap of time was spent creating these lovely visuals and planning it all with some concepts from French style wallpapers chosen and adapted from There Museum of decorative arts in France. Circa 1825 which matches the local architecture.

So the moral of this story is for all budding muralists…dont design a thing until you have a downpayment in hand, which I usually NEVER do, I was giving a huge discount, because this is a space I really wanted and I hope the company owners for the Brighton Branch can eventually get their way! I would like to say that its not Ewe Move Brighton’s fault, it’s a frustrating case of design by committee with people who don’t know about creating art and design and don’t know the area. Highly frustrating and annoying that these people think that the public would prefer a corporate logo to a quirky and well researched piece of art!

Some mural artists will work for free, but you seldom get free and good at the same time. And incidentally whilst artists might want to get their name out there and established, they are actually making it harder for the professionals amongst us. “Great exposure” and expecting art to be free is never a reason to accept a good space unless you feel that the space represents a good move longer term for yourself and your career. OR if its to help a cause that you believe in such as the #helpourkelp campaign which I am painting for in June 2021.
