Ever since I began to visit the island of Sal in Cape Verde I could see that there weren’t many opportunities at all for young people here in creative arts and education. This is mainly because it’s a tourist island and as such everything is geared towards that… Most local people work in the tourism industry if they are lucky however the disparity between the tourists and the locals is huge. This got me thinking … what about the young people here ? It’s clear they have never been given the opportunity to do a course like the one I created, especially with spray paints and I wanted to share that here.

I could see a naive form of graffiti increasing to be scrawled around Santa Maria by young people and that means the interest is there! I visited so I approached TUI Care Foundation’s office here called Tui Futureshaper House and suggested to bring my workshop here in a course format culminating in an collaborative mural in the high street.
